SSCC Committees

Waterfront Development Committee

This Committee has been of vital importance to the South Stormont Chamber of Commerce in helping to formulate the Chamber’s position on waterfront & economic development. This Committee, under the leadership of Mr. Jack Wilson, has been instrumental in researching and presenting innovative ideas on how to implement, maintain, promote and safe guard our waterfront land development. Mr. Wilson also sits on the South Stormont Waterfront Development Committee as the SSCC representative.

A paper written by this Committee, “South Stormont Waterfront Development”, was presented to the South Stormont Planning Advisory and Waterfront Development Committee in late fall of 2001.

Membership & Fundraising Committee

This Committee is responsible for increasing the membership base of the SouthStormont Chamber of Commerce and running events which help to fund the different events and day-to-day operations of the South Stormont Chamber of Commerce.

Home & Trade Show Committee

 Mr. Dale Stewart, Chairperson

This Committee is responsible for showcasing both the South Stormont Chamber of Commerce as well as its members in the annual Home & Trade Show. The Home & Trade Show is the largest fund raiser that the South Stormont Chamber of Commerce has. As such it is the flagship event of our organization. It’s members are responsible for the vision, design, implementation and logistics of the annual show. 50% of all net profits are returned to the community in the form of a donation to the South Stormont Recreational Committee.

Economic Development Committee

This Committee was formed in the fall of 2003 when the Waterfront and Economic Development Committee was split into 2 separate committees. This Committee has been instrumental in researching and presenting innovative ideas on how to implement, maintain, promote and improve our economic development programs & policies. Mr. Wilson has been a driving force within the business community regarding economic development within South Stormont. The SSCC representative on the South Stormont Township Economic Development Committee is Mr. Mike Metcalfe.
